White Asparagus Festival at Pädaste

Monday, 10 June – Sunday, 16 June 2024

Asparagus has a long history dating back thousands of years. It is believed to have originated in the Eastern Mediterranean and was already cultivated by ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans. Today, asparagus is grown worldwide, including Estonia.

In Estonia, like in many Latin countries, we mostly know the green asparagus, but this variant does not nearly reach the culinary stardom of the white variant. Thick, fat, golden and juicy the white asparagus is the queen of vegetables.

In German food culture, asparagus plays a significant role. They have named the asparagus harvest season Spargelzeit. At Alexander Restaurant, with respect for the seasons, we dedicate the first week in June to white asparagus!

This is the second year when white asparagus gets its highlight. Experience a week filled with exquisite flavors as Chef de Cuisine Achim Braitsch meticulously crafts the finest asparagus dishes. During this week, we offer a special 4-course dinner focused on white asparagus, in addition to our daily changing 4-course Table d’Hôte dinner and 9-course Islands’ Degustation.

Asparagus is valued for its nutritional content, including vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber. Immerse yourself in the freshness and elegance of seasonal white asparagus prepared with an innovative touch. Each dish showcases the delicate flavors and vibrant colors of this prized vegetable, paired with carefully selected ingredients to create a symphony of flavors.

Reservations for the white asparagus 4-course menu can be made for seating between 19:00 and 21:30, and the price for the dinner is 141 EUR per person.
